Breakthrough Challenge to Bring Trauma-Informed Model to Affordable Homes in Independence, Missouri

An Independence apartment complex will receive updates thanks to a recently awarded grant.

Preservation of Affordable House (POAH), a national nonprofit housing developer, received a $2 million grant and two years of technical assistance valued at $500,000 through the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge, according to a news release.
POAH owns 1,538 complexes in Missouri, including the Hawthorne Apartments, which has 745 affordable housing units.
Enterprise Community Partners and Wells Fargo awarded the grants.

POAH, as part of the grants, will implement its Trauma-Resilient Communities project, which aims "to work with residents and staff to explore trauma-informed innovations in resident services."
