Calif. Legislature Earmarks $15 Million for the Homecoming Project
The Investment Brings the Homecoming Project to Los Angeles and Funds other Impact Justice Innovations
State Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo announced the California Legislature’s decision to fund Impact Justice programs that expand opportunities for formerly incarcerated and other system-impacted people as an investment in building safe, thriving communities and a more just society.
The $15 million legislative earmark provided over three years will enable Impact Justice to bring the Homecoming Project, its paradigm-shifting response to high rates of homelessness among people leaving prison, beyond the Bay Area to Los Angeles where the need is great and will fund the growth and creation of other Impact Justice innovations.
In 2020, the Homecoming Project was one of six innovations selected out of nearly 900 proposals in the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge, receiving a $2.5 million award.
